Why Every Mom Needs a Back to School Wardrobe

back to school, new wardrobe

Back to school season is a time for new beginnings, renewal and achieving new goals. But for some reason many moms leave themselves off the back to school shopping list. After a long summer of running around after kids, it's time to invest in some new clothes and accessories that will make you feel confident and put-together.This is a new concept for me. I typically just shop whenever-like who really needs a reason to shop???? I'm just being more intentional about implementing a back to school wardrobe. It is an easy way to update my wardrobe so I don't find myself saying have bras older than insert young person’s name.😮 Not only will shopping for yourself be a much-needed break from the hustle and bustle of back-to-school season, but it will also help you feel refreshed and ready to take on the new school year.

Comfort is key.

You'll be doing a lot of running around and carpooling, so you'll need clothes that are comfortable and won't restrict your movement. There are plenty of situations where a mom will need something cute and comfortable to handle any mom duties in. For example, taking the kid to the bus stop or dropping off kids. Maybe there is time to drop off kids and then finish getting ready for work. Or Maybe you are a SAHM and don't want to look like a complete slob when you drop the kids off. In either scenario, I disagree with anyone who says you can't be cute AND comfortable. There are cute jogging suits, leggings and other clothing that are made from cotton that can fit the bill. Look for clothes made from soft, breathable fabrics like cotton and linen and that can be dressed up and down for endless versatility.

It's self-care.

Making sure you not only feel good but look good is a simple form of self care. Taking some time for yourself to shop for new clothes is a great way to relax and de-stress. It's also a chance to update your wardrobe with some new pieces that will express your personality. When you look good, you feel good. And when you feel good, you're better able to take care of your family and yourself. Read: if you look and feel the part of the wicked witch, thats who you will be. So make sure to invest in some new clothes that make you feel confident and put-together.

A more timely rest on your wardrobe.

If you end up wearing the same 3 items every week in the summer and expect it to look cute in the fall, you are sadly mistaken. Even if Woolite is keeping your clothes from fading, you can still end up with worn out feeling in your clothes. You will have a stale outlook on the new year knowing you are throwing on the same few clothes to do mom duties. A refresh to your closet can help you get excited about your day because you have new outfits to showcase. If you've been wearing the same clothes all summer, chances are you wont wake up excited to tackle the day. Shopping for yourself will also help you avoid last-minute trips to the store when you're short on time.

You'll set a good example for your kids.

This is the one most important thing parents should hear more about. I truly didn't understand/ believe this until becoming a parent of toddlers myself. One thing the #2livecrewfeatDrake will do is repeat actions or words they see from other people including themselves. Kids learn by watching the adults in their lives. If you show them that it's important to practice self care, they'll be more likely to do the same. Model many forms of self care so that they can better understand the concept for themselves. So make sure to set a good example by shopping for yourself and taking some time for self-care.

Better Prepared.

Purchasing new clothes in the beginning of the school year can help you to prepare for future events of this particular year. Are you becoming a soccer mom for the first time? That would require you to have layered clothes for the various weather changes and also additional accessories (hat, gloves, sunhat, fold up chair, etc.) Are you walking kids to the bus stop for the first time? Maybe you want to own a few jogging suits that you can quickly throw on to walk kids to school and then return home to either finish getting ready for work or continue your tasks for the day as a SAHM. Having clothes that appeal to various situations that you will encounter can help you be in good spirits for busy days ahead.

These are just a few reasons why every mom needs to shop for themselves for back to school. And honestly there are an unlimited number of reasons why thinking of yourself as you organize the household for a new year is essential. So what are you waiting for? Start shopping today and enjoy the feeling of looking and feeling your best.
