I'm A Ladybug

I needed to finish cleaning my closet in preparation for my new closet design. Prior to clearing out my closet again, I watched this show called Hot Mess House on HGTV. It got my whole life together and gave me excellent organization tips. I watched some Marie Kondo shows and I enjoyed some of her tips but it wasn't until I found out that I was a ladybug that everything clicked for me. Cassandra Aarsen read my whole life in one episode. She groups organization styles by 4 different bugs; cricket, ladybug, bee and butterfly.  The four bugs are a variation of external vs internal organization and  macro vs highly detailed systems. After watching the show, I also took her quiz on her website. I reconfirmed my suspicions- I’m a ladybug. She had me at “I have to be able to put it away fast or I wont put it away”. Translation: I will stuff it in an unorganized closet and or bin prior to the company arriving for the appearance of organization. File cabinets are not my friend. This also shed light to my heavy attraction to the cube organization shelves and wanting one in every room.

After watching the show I had more motivation to get my house together. I decided to start with my bedroom closet. As usual every organization expert recommends purging before organizing. Until recently, I disagreed that I had to do the purge first but the 20 large garbage bags of clothes  (over several purges) that I have given away during this process says otherwise. That's why I get frustrated and stop halfway through organizing because I don't have room nor time to organize stuff I’m not wearing. I didn’t even need to say thank you to my clothes (a Marie Kondo reference) that I was purging this time because this ladybug identity and tips got me hyped. I was so into this cleaning session, that I put two pairs of shoes into the giveaway pile. Yes, I let go of shoes. That's how you know it's real. Don’t worry- I didn’t get rid of my black Micheal Kors shoes from yesterday’s post. Y’all probably gonna bury me in those, if I'm being completely honest.
