Missed NY Fashion Week? Here's How to Attend Other Shows

Christian Siriano NY Fashion Week

Ever since I was a kid, I dreamed of going to fashion week. I love fashion and flipping through fashion magazines seeing the new trends. Although fashion week is more accessible these days, it still can be challenging to get into an actual show in New York or any of the major fashion hubs. Here are three ways you can participate in Fashion Week without actually going to New York or internationally.

Attend virtually

Many fashion houses have virtual shows as a result of the pandemic .And since the pandemic is still going on and fluctuates, many still have virtual options available. Go to www.nyfw.com for the listing of shows and times. They have replays so that if you miss the times or at work you can watch at a later time. Other websites to check out include: www.nowfashion.com, www.fashionista.com and www.vogue.com

Attending virtually also allows you to attend shows internationally. Most popular international shows include Paris (September 26- October 4), Milan (September 20- September 26), and London (September 16-20). Some websites to check out schedules and view online:

Attend local events

Many large cities are starting to have their own fashion weeks. Columbus, the city I currently live in, hosts a fashion week in October. I am planning on attending their events. Its different by city and you are more likely to see your local flavor on the runway.

Recreate Trends

Based on what you see are trends (anything you see 3 or more times across various designers), recreate the look at home. Fashion is cyclical so chances are you may have a trend already in your home. Also some trends carryover from previous seasons i.e. leggings have been incorporated in fashion trends for several years.

I hope this post has helped you to  engage in Fashion Week without busting the piggy bank open. You can now access fashion shows and recreate looks as if you received an invite to the coveted front row seats of your favorite fashion show. I have included some additional websites to check out for fashion news.
