In my experience so far, I have found the cutest and inexpensive maternity items mostly come from online only retailers. Of course you have to play the guessing game with sizing but in many cases it's worth the possible hassle. Here’s some tips on shopping online for maternity clothes.

Check for the deals/coupons/sales

The sales and deals are in abundance with online only sites. Most online retailers offer first time shoppers a 10% to 20% off their first purchase. Also many providers offer random sales (not connected to holidays) periodically. Besides the sales, there is always the clearance/sale section. I always check this section while shopping online or in person because there’s usually a secret cheap treasure waiting for me to claim.😉

Order a size larger than needed.

Your future self will thank you. Sometimes the sizing isn't correct and sometimes your belly is growing faster than expected. This is not the time to be sticker size shock. Get the size you need size sis! Try on the clothes immediately even if it's before the season, so that you know if you have the right size. It will allow you time to exchange for proper size prior to the season and to stay within the return window for the retail store and allow for time to ship back for online retailers. Majority of retailers make it easy to exchange/return items however, it's your job to get it to them within the return window.

Allow for shipping time

I know this may be an obvious point however this is becoming a larger point to consider. With Covid, mailing times are extended so be mindful when ordering for a special occasion like a maternity shoot or a baby shower. Some online sites are overseas and can take two weeks for standard shipping.  Once you receive your haul, TRY IT ON IMMEDIATELY. All caps and reemphasis from the above point needed to emphasize the importance of doing this. Two reasons for doing this is 1.) making sure you are still under the return policy so you can get your coins back and 2.) make sure you have the right fit for the right season. This advice is for me too because I fell victim to both of these points.

  1. Some retailers have a strict 30 day return policy. Like the clothes need to be back in their possession before the 30th day. No postmarked items prior to the date accepted.

  2. I called myself ordering a dress for an upcoming wedding and it was way too big. I didn't try it on until closer to the wedding (past the return date)  and realized it was way too big. Now I'm stuck with it. Luckily, I'm only out of 30 bucks for it. However it still stings because I could have exchanged for another dress. Hit me up if you are preggo and want a somewhat formal purple dress to wear, I'll get satisfaction that at least it went to a good home.😉
